Not only do the top men in hip hop cause controversy but take a
look at the female artist. One of the first hip hop female artist “Lil Kim” is
known for her racy lyrics and vulgar actions. Also known to actually work hard
to surround her self by controversy. Although she had some top chart hits, she
is also known as “sleeping” around with some of the rappers in hip-hop. Her
sex-spouting persona can possibly describe her the most. Lil Kim is known for
most of her videos wearing almost nothing and most of her music talks about her and her sexual encounters with men without shame.
Women like Beyoncé, portray the image of empowerment and give women and men the statement that a women can have power and be "sexy" all in one. There is a thin line between sexy and just plain trashy and Beyoncé remains in the classy side. Although some of her videos and images are "revealing", she manages to stand her ground as the women that she is. Named one of the most successful singers of all time, it shows how a women can make a name for her self in the industry without being that "sexual object". She just releases the legacy as an amazing idol. Although Beyoncé is not always in the media for convicting controversy and problems, she has created success with her amazing talent and grace as a woman.
Or maybe Lil Kim can be compared to another respected women in the music industry, Erykah Badu. Her uplifting music, great lyrics and powerful image can be respected by many rappers in the game. A women does not need to "expose" her self or portray the "sex" image to become that much noticeable. A woman in the industry needs to show her talents and just be a woman.

There is clearly a big difference between both female artist, just as you pointed out. I think is better for a female artisit to stay out of the public eye than get all the attention for something trashy she has done. it's better to draw attention for the good things you do and how classy you are than how trashy you are.
ReplyDeleteevery women just like men have their own style. That style portrays them for really who they are. I do think women should be recognized for their good actions, but i do know people are most remembered for the bad things they done.
ReplyDeleteThere are many artists that like to be over revealing when it comes to their outfits. LIl Kim clearly has a difference in the wardrobe when it comes to a comparison between Beyoncé and her. Beyoncé is classier than her in many ways. Artist should dress more like Beyoncé so that they can all look descent.
